Miami Public Schools is pleased to announce the establishment of its campus police department, aimed at ensuring the safety and security of its students, faculty, and staff.

Miami, OK – Miami Public Schools is pleased to announce the establishment of its campus police department, aimed at ensuring the safety and security of its students, faculty, and staff.

The campus police department will be staffed by CLEET-certified law enforcement officers who will work in collaboration with the local law enforcement to provide a safe learning environment for all students. With headquarters at Miami High School, the department will include resource officers at the High School, Junior High School, and Nichols Upper Elementary, as well as CLEET-Certified armed security guards at all lower elementary sites. The department will provide a range of services, including responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, and providing security at extracurricular activities.

“We are grateful for our 20-year partnership with Miami Police Department. We’re thankful for City Manager Bo Reese and Chief Anderson for their understanding and support as we move in this new direction,” said Nick Highsmith, Superintendent of Schools. “We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our students and ensuring we have the right people in place to do so.”

Creating the Miami Public Schools campus police department comes at a time when school safety is of utmost importance. Our campus police department will work to build positive relationships with students and families and promote a culture of safety and respect throughout the school district.
