Miami, OK – Miami Public Schools is proud to announce Dr. Mark Stanton as our new Director of Data, Information, and Finance. A veteran in education administration, Dr. Stanton brings a wealth of experience and insight to impact the growth and success of the district.

Miami Public Schools is a leading school district in northeast Oklahoma, providing high-quality educational experiences for its students. Serving over 2,000 students and 316 staff, the Director of Data, Information, and Finance plays a vital role in ensuring state reports are accurate, student data is valuable, and financial health is strong.

Dr. Stanton, a 1984 Miami High School graduate, returns to the district after serving 16 years in McDonald County, Missouri. As principal at McDonald County High School and Superintendent of Schools, Stanton managed a $42 million operating budget for over 600 employees, 11 campuses, and about 3,700 students. During his tenure at McDonald County, he led his team to create new programs for students to grow and succeed, make major facility improvements, and guide the district into exemplary financial health.

Dr. Stanton’s experiences include service in the US Marine Corps, a Bachelor’s degree from Missouri Southern State University, a Master’s degree from Southwest Missouri State University, a Specialist degree from Pittsburg State University and a Doctorate in School Administration from Oklahoma State University. Regarding returning to his alma mater, Stanton said, “I’m a proud Wardog, and I’m excited about the opportunity to come back and share my experiences to mentor those that are starting their careers in administration. I appreciate the Board of Education’s willingness to take a chance on bringing me back.”

In this new role, Dr. Stanton will oversee district Student Information Systems, related support systems, and additional systems related to curriculum and instruction. In addition, Stanton will work closely with district leadership for fiscal improvement, the use of educational data, and district-wide school improvement efforts.

“I am excited to announce Dr. Stanton’s hiring. His experience, intellect, and character will be positive contributions to our team. As Superintendent of Schools, I take every opportunity I can to bring Wardog alumni back to Miami Public Schools. I have known Mark for a long time, and his heart for students, relationship building with teachers, and proven leadership record will be assets as we work to make Miami Public Schools the desired district in Northeast Oklahoma,” said Miami Superintendent Nick Highsmith.
